Pest Information

Ant control can be difficult, but there are some things you should know about how ant’s behavior can lead to big headaches for you and your home.

For starters Ants can enter through even the tiniest cracks, seeking water and sweet or greasy food substances in the kitchen, pantry or storeroom area. Ants leave an invisible chemical trail which contains pheromones for others to follow once they locate the food source. They can nest about anywhere in and around your house, in lawns, walls, trees even under foundations.

Colonies can number up to 500,000 and whole colonies can uproot and relocate quickly when threatened.  A colony can live a relatively long lifetime.  Worker ants may live seven years, and the queen may live as long as 15 years. Most do-it-yourself ant control approaches kill only the ants you see.

Some truly effective treatments can penetrate and destroy nests to help prevent these pests from returning.  Also, home remedies don’t account for the fact that different kinds of ant infestations require different treatments.

Some spiders like moisture and are found in crawl spaces and other damp parts of buildings. Others like dry, warm areas such as subflooring air vents, upper corners of rooms and attics, they hide in dark areas.

Spiders are capable of producing silk that is elastic, adhesive and strong. This silk is used to spin webs as well as to construct egg sacs and line spider dwellings. Some spider species live in burrows rather than webs while others are free-ranging and take refuge in crevices.

Spiders commonly enter homes in two primary ways, entering through open, poorly screened windows and doors and through cracks, and gaps around the exterior of your home.

Exterior Spider Application

We know the area and we understand its unique spider challenges.
The heart of spider control lies in creating a total barrier around your home, the more exterior entry points there are the greater the possibility of webbing and entry. In order to control spiders Cooper Pest and Wildlife Solutions starts by brushing away any visual webs near windows, doors,  soffits, peaks, decks, shed, rails etc…followed by an exterior residual liquid application in and around all of the above areas.

Stinging insects are categorized as social or solitary. If a wasp or Hornets nest is built, the resulting problem is an infestation that may become a serious stinging episode and perhaps an associated allergic reaction problem.

If a stinging insect gets inside to overwinter, it is very likely that it won’t even be seen until the following spring when it decides to go outside and start a new nest. Even then those stinging insect are not very aggressive and not likely to sting unless threatened.
